I assume that you’ve installed the postfix, cyrus-imapd and saslauthd instead of mysql server etc. pp. !?

For installation take a look at Luc’s HowTo: http://www.web-cyradm.org/docs.html

Start all services, I would set them up to start automatically at the actually used Runlevel.
After installing and starting the daemons, type in this command and send me the output please: 

netstat -anp |grep LISTEN
